The 15th Annual Conference of the Bayesian Network Modelling Association will be a hybrid conference, held on the 1st - 3rd of November in Brisbane and online! In a nod to the Association's rebranding (formerly ABNMS, the Australasian Bayesian Network Modelling Society), this year's exciting conference theme is "Expanding Horizons - BNs and Beyond". We still love Bayesian networks, but let's not forget they are just one technique in an ever-expanding landscape of options for modelling the world we live in. How are these other techniques different to BNs? Are BNs ready to play nice with deep learning? Can they compete with (or complement) systems dynamics, structured equation modelling, Bayesian hierarchical models and classical statistical models?
The organising committee for BNMA2023 is pleased to invite submission of abstracts for oral and poster presentations, both in person and online, on all aspects of research relating to BNs and BN application models at any stage of development on any topic including environment, health, defence, commerce, education or culture. We also invite abstracts that explore the relationships that BNs have with other techniques, and how BNs can be adapted to take advantage of advances in neighbouring modelling domains.
The committee strongly encourages (but does not require) authors to also submit one or more accompanying BNs to the BNMA BN repository, whether they be full BNs, DAGs (i.e. causal BN structures) or simply illustrative fragments.
Submission Guidelines
Abstracts for BNMA2023 should be no longer than 300 words.
Include the title of your presentation, authors, affiliations, contact details for the corresponding author and abstract. Please also state whether your submission is for an oral or poster presentation. The abstract should be self-contained and explicit, covering the aims, methods, results and main conclusions of the work. The abstract should not contain figures, tables or references.
